Thanks for the info I guess maybe Nortons is what is slowing down my computer. [kerryq2705]

An excellent Anti-Spyware that I use is AdAware. I also use AVG Anti-Virus. Both can be downloaded and updated free of charge on a routine basis. They work great, and I usually run them every couple of weeks just to keep my system totally secure and clean. [jonas_71ss]
I have heard of Adware but haven;t heard of AVG. Thanks for your response :) [kerryq2705]

I'm using Norton ANTI-VIRUS. Thank god it's still stable. and still nice. Symentec is good enough for most the websites. [koolshanghai]
Thanks for your response :) [kerryq2705]

Well IMHO, Norton sucks unless you're able to get a copy of the military's Symantic. I had it, but deleted it thinking it wasn't working, so I loaded regular Norton on my system. Then today, everything was running slow, I did a virus scan, a spyware scan, ect. and it all came up clear. I checked around and not many people care for Norton these days. I removed it from my computer and loaded Panda, within 2 minutes of having it downloaded it detected 3 viruses, and fixed them. Computers running great now!!! [angeliamj]
I'll have to check this one out too, its it a free one? yeah I have heard a lot of ppl arent' happy with Nortons so maybe I should look into something different. Maybe Nortons is whats slowing down my computer. Thanks for your response :) [kerryq2705]

Thanks for your reply :) [kerryq2705]

i have norton antivirus installed on my computer. i think its the best one out there and its very easy to configure and it doesnot interfere with other programs like outlook express and msn. mcaffee interferes with outlook express because it changes the pop settings. if i cannot sign in to my msn software i usually disable norton or configre it to allow msn full access. its very easy to configure. [jcvelina]
Thanks for your reply :) [kerryq2705]

I use a free anti-virus program call Avast Antivirus which is free for home users. It is quite a decent antivirus program and does its and value for free. Sometimes I feel it is better than the paid antivirus programs. The updates are prompt, sometimes daily. The best part of it is its alert in which a voice over tells you about a virus found. It has cool interface and skin, which is interchangeable. But it is free only for the home users, for business users they have some charges. I would definitely recommend this antivirus for all, if you feel you don't want to go for paid antivirus programs. [milott]

Thanks for your reply :) [kerryq2705]

Ya. I have antivirus on my computer. I am using both AVG and Kaspersky together. I think this combination is the best. [Ghoststory]

I've Avast Antivirus and I've Filseclab like firewall [manu224]

I have used many antivirus software and some suites but as for me in this moment the best seems to be bitdefender antivirus. They have also a suite rom bitdefender which is very good too! [mcbota]

ohhh!!! hii to all.. best antivirus i used ever is AVG-Antivirus... its more secure to use AVG although i also used Norton and Mcafee and many more.. but now i am satisfied with the AVG antivirus... its absolutely free and the updates are quite easily updated without so much of time... and it gives the high performance for my computer. Many a times when i am sharing something in my LAN,,, AVG immediately detects which type of virus is this and completey wipe out the viruses... So i would like to prefer AVG antivirus instead of any other antivirus. Happy Mylotting!!! [hackingrules]

When I was still using Windows, I am using McAfee for my virus protection needs. It detects almost all viruses, and with heuristics technology, it also detects virus-like activities, making your computer virtually virus-free. It is also light on resources, you won't even notice that it is running in the background protecting your computer all the way through. I also tried Norton, but sad to say it didn't pass my taste. It is a resource hog, and it slowed my computer like a turtle. But it is also good in detecting viruses! If Norton wasn't a resource hog, then it will be on my recommended list regarding anti-viruses for the Windows platform. But then again I switched to Linux a few years ago. Why!? I was tired with all the Windows bug that resurfaces with every release of Windows. Not to mention that almost all viruses and spywares are "designed" to work only with Windows-based computers. With Linux, I don't have to worry about viruses, hence no need to install any anti-virus software.:) [ryanrudolf]

I tried McAfee first and it worked great but I didn't like the yearly fee. Then someone told me about AVG and I used it for awhile and it worked ok. Then when I got a new PC I tried the free trial of Norton which I didn't like at all. The Norton Version 2005 worked ok but it used too many resources and I didn't like the fact that it would pop up and run a scan at all times of the day and I couldn't even customize those settings. So I went back to AVG. Then about 6 months ago my PC got some kind of virus that changed the date on my PC to a month ahead. I didn't realize what the problem was but I knew that AVG would not update and it would not find the problem. So I looked around and found Avast downloaded it and ran it. It found 6 viruses that AVG could not and cleaned them. Immediately, my Date and Time Properties popped up and I saw my date was wrong. I reset it and I haven't had a problem since. I haven't even had a virus in the last 6 months. With AVG I had one virus after the other pop up just about daily. And you may not believe this, but you don't even have to worry about running the full scan at all with Avast. The background protection keeps your pc safe at all times. I run it about once a week just to ensure that all is well. I will never use another program. Avast works and best of all it is FREE. Norton is not an virus remover, but instead only a virus detector. It found 2 files of adware, and one trojan dropper virus in c:\command.exe Was it able to fix anything? Nope. I went to their website and it said to just delete the file. So I did. Guess what? Now windows won't load. And, you have to pay for updates to norton after a year..... now that sucks !! [leon1987]
