How old is the computer it could be that the DVD does not get enough power from the Powersupply at times. The newer boards do ask alot of power from the Power supply. But it could very well be that the the powercable or the datacable is not connected correctly or damaged. [MisterR]
thats major hardware failure try changing memory [makatron]
I'd definately agree, open it up, check the cords, first priority! Try some different ones. Ground yourself before touching anything inside. [Lackingstyle]
try to unplug data cabel and power cabel then plug again but diferrent plug in secondary slave. [benz81]

You may be having a virus or Spyware installed on your PC. Norton, AVG , Avast are free antivirus software. Ad-aware, Ewide are free spyware removers. You can download free softwares at http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html [pcwork]
You need to check 2 things... 1. SMPS (if it has enough Wattage to support all devices you have installed) 2. The DATA CABLE that connects the Motherboard and DVD [lrajnish]
I have changed the cable and now everything is fine, thanks for the suggestions. [andremixon]
