How To Find A Reliable Computer Technician

How do you find a reliable computer technician (or service engineer) who will actually repair your computer, not damage it further?

A while ago I had to fix my computer....they totally wrecked it. Then my three year old messed it up while I was out of the room and I had to take it again. I found an excellent repair shop by calling my local electronics stores and asking them if they had a list of reputible technicians. It really helped. Good Luck! [millmelo]
Good luck with the search and hopefully something will pan out! [millmelo]

The CD drive in my computer needs to be replaced and I was quoted $80 to get a new one, but the place opens at 10 am and so far they have not been there at 10:25 when I was there. I think I might check the yellow pages next. That place I found is near my gym but the time they open does not work for me and they would charge $50 to pick it up. [autismfamily]
You put two broken pieces of a CD in your CDROM drive? Not a good idea. A broken CD is unreadable to everyone except maybe the CSI tech lab. Or some other very savvy charicters. If I understand you correctly your CDROM drive may be ok once you can carefully get all the pieces out of the drive... Ummm IF you can get all the pieces out of the drive. Good luck. Hope you can fix it without paying a bunch of money to someone. [RealIolo]

You need me! My first credo is never make the patient worse! Only problem is don't make house calls to India. Sorry. [RealIolo]

I do all my own repairs and my family and friends give me a few bucks when I have a chance to fix there pc's. I usually build a couple custom machines weekly and I have other students and teachers at school who bring their machine to me after abd experiences with geek squad and such. Some of them have taken their machines only to get them back with half of the memory or cheaper video cards and sound cards replacing the ones they had. [stezieb]
What a scam! That really blows! [RealIolo]

if you were in Melbourne Australia I would put you onto someone, he is not a qualified tech but he is a wizard with computers, better than any tech I have ever had....and honest with reasonable charges.... but unless you want to buy him a ticket to India..... [lilaclady]

ask him/her for details.. ask what is wrong with your computer then observe.. fixing a computer will only take an hour, so always supervise.. if you dont trust the technician ask him for a diploma or just ask him whom computers did he already fixed.. [macubx]

look in phone book for a Computer Tech. [marciascott]
