What do I do? I am so not computer technically minded and I've tried a few things like deleting my temp. internet files, trying to restore my computer (it wont let me :(!!!), defragging my computer, switching it all off, running my anti virus. Its a trojan horse virus or something, a generic? Means nothing to me, anyone got any idea on how to fix it???

Its all been sorted since I started this discussion. Ive just found it again, I thought it had been deleted for some reason. Thanks to everyone who responded trying to help. I ended up having to wipe my computer and start again. I have a great antivirus and firewall in place now and take care in what i download. No limewire for me :P [megs85]

What exactly is your problem? If your computer hangs or reboots while you are working on it , it could be a problem with device drivers , hardware or software . I just had exactly the same problem a few weeks ago. I have a dell computer so I called dell and they sent me restore discs. If you have a trojan virus the automatic restore on your computer will not work to clear it. You have to get the actual discs for your computer and if you still have them they came with your computer otherwise you can call the company and they will send them to you. Also when trying to restore the computer make SURE the phone line is not connected because new viruses will enter your computer. Then after you have restored your computer and set it up you should have some type of temporary antivirus that comes with your computer for free you should activate that. It should be free for a month or year or something like that. You need to activate this so you will have some sort of protection before connecting to the internet. Then when you have done all of this you can connect to the internet and download a new antivirus program. the one I use is avast. It has been great. I have had absolutely no problem and no viruses. It intercepts them before they enter my computer and if I want it to it will notify my that a virus tried to enter and it intercepted. I chose to turn that notify option off but anyway, I had Norton before and my computer said I had 6 viruses and it did not clear them but avast did. It might be avast.com or maybe I just searched for avast I am not sure but I know I downloaded it for free. It is so great. Good luck to you. I hope you get all this and I hope it helps. [jbb316]
I use the latest version of McAfee........ I have used Nortion, Avg & McAfee....... Nortion gives better protection. It has file recovery features....... But it takes a lot of your system resources....... Avg too takes more resources than McAfee........ AVG may be unable to detect all viruses........ McAfee protects your system without slowing down the system performance, compared to the other two mentioned above......... how much capacity you have in your hard disk.if your computer program running slow then you should have to remove un neccesary programs from your computer, if it your inter net programs running slow then your internet speed is slow. first try with removing unneseccery programs,then you have to scan your computer for virus.i think it help you. Internet is full of viruses . If your computer is infected badly then the best choice is , take a back up of all your document in a CD ROM . Delete all partition if any, repartition again , format your computer .Then reinstall your operating system. hey, you caught the right person. i am compter eng. i am doing this job from last 6 years. i am telling you my experience. just install NORTON CORPORATION EDITION VERSION 10 and also update from internet. after update just scan 3-4 times continues. it's not a huge problem for me.. First of all you need to install antivirus ( I prefer you to install kaspersky antivirus ) And set up all the settings that you require.. And it will block everything that you do not want..when you do that kav ask for actions to be taken against services like to allow that exe or other programs..
