Uncountable number of times my system has crashed due to viruses. Actually I never bother to intall antivirus. [nihalnihal]

No i never got infected. I run Windows XP SP2. Up to date with microsoft update. I have Zone Alarm Security suite with anti-virus/anti-spyware disabled (performance), i use it only when i download stuff from p2p, I use the lastest version & update regulary. With the firewall and a lots of small tools provide by zone alarm i don't need no more. I use Opera as a browser so i don't bother with Internet Explorer Security hole. And of course i watch 2 times every time i click on the internet. Opera now support an anti-phising options than tell the safety of a website. Of course i don't download zip, rar or any others archives / exe file from a unknow/untrusted source on the web. I use a technique http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm to block every spam, spywares ads and a lots of parasite. If you are more paranoid you can look for peerguardian to block riaa, governement, and some others to access your computer. Hope it help someone [apoorlonesomegeek]

I am using McAfee for my virus protection needs. It detects almost all viruses, and with heuristics technology, it also detects virus-like activities, making your computer virtually virus-free. It is also light on resources, you won't even notice that it is running in the background protecting your computer all the way through. I also tried Norton, but sad to say it didn't pass my taste. It is a resource hog, and it slowed my computer like a turtle. But it is also good in detecting viruses! If Norton wasn't a resource hog, then it will be on my recommended list regarding anti-viruses for the Windows platform. Beside that, Avg free edition is quiet enough for us if we have already a firewall and anti spyware... U also could upgrade your avg into pro edition..
