I dont know the exact website address but my friend downloaded me free antivirus program for me. It said AVG Free Edition. It works great. Maybe you can look up the name and able to download it for free for your computer protection. [maya_n_bennett]

let me give you the rankings. Ask any computer professionals. They will certify me. 1) NOD32 2) Kaspersky 3) Norton 4) AVG Antivirus The problem with Norton is that it takes a portion of the root sectors of the hard disks permanently for its own use which will not be given back to the hard disk even if you uninstall Norton. And it takes a lot of physical memory. I suggest you to go for NOD. I am using it! Its truelly great! It can detect hiding files which no other antivirus programs can detect. Everyone here is right and these are all quality antivirus software. I used Norton for years, it was a huge resource hog but it worked very well. I posted the link to AVG's website in my previous post. To the best of my knowledge, it's the best free antivirus software and free is what the original poster asked for. I am using AVG Free Edition.. why? because its free to download, and it only consume few memory.I seldom use norton anivirus, because it consume large amount of memory...specially during start-up/boot-up.It's not advisable to use norton for slow computer..If you want to use norton better upgrade ur PC.. As most the replies here i also recommend AVG free edition, been using it for years and it's excellent, all paid programs has nothing more than AVG free and if they do it will be something you never use .. as for protection quality it's reported to be more efficient than Norton and most major ones. ohhh!!! hii to all.. best antivirus i used ever is AVG-Antivirus... its more secure to use AVG although i also used Norton and Mcafee and many more.. but now i am satisfied with the AVG antivirus... its absolutely free and the updates are quite easily updated without so much of time... and it gives the high performance for my computer. Many a times when i am sharing something in my LAN,,, AVG immediately detects which type of virus is this and completey wipe out the viruses...
