Do Your Children Help You With Your Computer

Mine do all the time. They are 10 and 14 and they both have computer studies at their schools. They are always teaching me new tricks and techniques that make my time on the interenet better and much more efficient.

My Daughter doesnt help me yet, she is only 4 1/2 right now. yet she can work the computer and know how to get to where she wants. of course I put shortcuts on the desktop for her and locked the rest of the computer down [mirage108]
It is wonderful that you are teaching her the basics and giving her the experience. She will be ready when she gets to school. [newadd]

Yes, mine does all the time.My 10 year says that his teacher has laptops in his class for his students. [disvachic]
At my daughters elentary school they have several computers in class. And then they have a computer lab. Which has enough to teach a large class of kids. Things sure have changed since I went to school:) [newadd]

My 9 year old actually helped my husband the other day with something on Power Point ! They learn so early in school these days, but that is a good thing :) He also made his Christmas List on Power Point LOL [Khokhonut]
It amazes me how much they know. I am really glad though:) [newadd]

My grandson helped me put my AVATAR here. [rolcam]
How old is he? [newadd]

I would never have learned computer if not for my kids. I went to the library many years ago to look for a book. I was very upset to find they didn't have the litte cards anymore, but had replaced them with computers. My 8 year old son was with me and told me not to worry, he would show me how to find a book on the computer. That was my first experience. My son is 22 now and still helps me learn new things on it. Whenever I have a question, he's the one that helps me with it, although I am also showing him some things now. [purplewolf]
That is great. Kids are learning so much more than we did at their age. I really enjoy it when they teach me... [newadd]

Yes; my son does help me a lot with the computer. He installs programs for me and fixes my computer when it's down. He actually got me going on the internet and he did my website. He is awesome. [cubby1]
Aren't children the best:) [newadd]

My kids do not help me with the computer - even though they would like to sometimes. They are 4 and 2. I don't know how much help they would actually be if I let them on the computer. LOL!! I usually teach my husband things though since I used to work in a County Information Technology department. [MakDomMom]
Before you know it they will want to be on it...lol..at least there are some really good learning programs out there for kids. [newadd]

I don't know if I'd ever have learned computers without my son. He's been so good at them since he was 12 or 13. During high school and college he got computer jobs because of his skills. He's fixed problems on my computer so many times. When I lived in Tennessee, I'd call him if I had problems and he'd talk me through them. It's always amazed me how quickly he learned to do so much that I haven't begun to learn. [sbeauty]
At least he will be able to teach you as you go along. [newadd]

hehe! Yeah, my daughter TELLS me all the time to not do this, but do this, etc. etc. when it comes to computer. She often shakes her head and frowns at me and makes me feel like such an incompetent fool...but all in fun;) Kids nowadays...I always say they're born with a mouse in their hands! LOL:) [Pups2Hug]
Hmmm..a mouse in their hand may be better than a remote control...lol [newadd]

Nope mine don't they used to at first but now I do everything myself and they are saying that I know more then they do now lol [gabs8513]
Lololol well you are learning then and soon you will show them [gabs8513]

yes, he's way updated on computer stuff. he's having fun teaching me new things as he 'mocks' me being behind on new tech, hehe. [kokopelli]

Thank goodness I'm the computer person in this house. I have my degree in comp sci but my kids are very, very good with the computer as I've had them using it since they were literally about 2 years old or so. They used to play with me on the Seasame Street site and so many others. I think it's a defnite must for kids now. Just be careful when they're smarter than you on it... that's when they can start hiding stuff!!! lol [hockeygal4ever]

my younger daughter is 17 and a whizz with the pc. I recon she was born with a mouse in her hand! I can still show her a thing or two as well and together we make a good team. She uses pc a lot for her college studies and I don't know how she'd get by without it. [Noot54]

well i do not have children but my little once really help me with the computer.. [chimex4real2k2]

I do not have any children yet but I have helped my parents quite a bit with their use of a computer. children are learning how to use a computer as such a early age now. They know more about computers than many adults do. A lot of the students that I work with say their children help them with using a computer as well. [kgwat70]

i dont have any children, but how i envy you that they do help you, maybe they can help you on mylot when they are free, haha [phdmoneymaker]

No mine don't bother the computer. [kids91911]

When I was home with my parents, they always relied on me to teach them new things about the computer. I was the computer wize in my family. So, maybe in the future my daughter will be doing the same to me. [Lydia1901]

my son is 5 so not yet, but i am sure once he gets older and they start teaching him in school he may teach me a few things. [missyd79]

It was my eldest daughter who showed me how too use a computer, that was when she was about 17 (two years ago) [Tynnac]
