I simply just shut down the computer. There are several times when I let my computer stay online all day and all night becasuse I am at campus here at university and we don't pay eny electrical energy. We pay a fix tax per month. The internet is free. I think it's no need to shut down the monitor too because the new monitors and old monitors too they know when the computer is shut down and don't consume energy enymore.
