How does McAfee handle backdoor viruses? I need something that can detect AND delete backdoor viruses effectively! [trinihd]
I have anti-virus in my PC. I also have anti spam software like Adware and noAdware. They are very helpful in maintaining your pc and deleting unwanted tracker cookies. You should remember though to update your softwares every now and then so that the signatures will be updated. Good luck and more power. Please do respond to my posts also they are very interesting. Virus - is a program written to alter the way a computer operates, without the permission or knowledge of the user, it hides in other program files. It replicates itself and executes. To know more about how viruses attaches itself to computers and to learn how to combat them. Check out http://sumiram2006.googlepages.com/combatproblems [sum1234]
i have anti virus too i dont like to have viruses they slow our compu down [guesswhomsa]
I think my computer is virus-free because I do have an anti-virus software, but one of our computers at home is not completely virus-free, there seems to be a lot of back-door viruses that (an expired version of) Norton detects but cannot do anything about! They're apparently somewhat benign but still annoying because Norton is always popping up to say it has detected them but can't delete them! [trinihd]
ohhh!!! hii to all.. best antivirus i used ever is AVG-Antivirus... its more secure to use AVG although i also used Norton and Mcafee and many more.. but now i am satisfied with the AVG antivirus... its absolutely free and the updates are quite easily updated without so much of time... and it gives the high performance for my computer. Many a times when i am sharing something in my LAN,,, AVG immediately detects which type of virus is this and completey wipe out the viruses... So i would like to prefer AVG antivirus instead of any other antivirus. Happy Mylotting!!! [hackingrules]
When I was still using Windows, I am using McAfee for my virus protection needs. It detects almost all viruses, and with heuristics technology, it also detects virus-like activities, making your computer virtually virus-free. It is also light on resources, you won't even notice that it is running in the background protecting your computer all the way through. I also tried Norton, but sad to say it didn't pass my taste. It is a resource hog, and it slowed my computer like a turtle. But it is also good in detecting viruses! If Norton wasn't a resource hog, then it will be on my recommended list regarding anti-viruses for the Windows platform. But then again I switched to Linux a few years ago. Why!? I was tired with all the Windows bug that resurfaces with every release of Windows. Not to mention that almost all viruses and spywares are "designed" to work only with Windows-based computers. With Linux, I don't have to worry about viruses, hence no need to install any anti-virus software.:) [ryanrudolf]
well.... i have a anti virus in ma system so........no question of virus [sshashank2]
I tried McAfee first and it worked great but I didn't like the yearly fee. Then someone told me about AVG and I used it for awhile and it worked ok. Then when I got a new PC I tried the free trial of Norton which I didn't like at all. The Norton Version 2005 worked ok but it used too many resources and I didn't like the fact that it would pop up and run a scan at all times of the day and I couldn't even customize those settings. So I went back to AVG. Then about 6 months ago my PC got some kind of virus that changed the date on my PC to a month ahead. I didn't realize what the problem was but I knew that AVG would not update and it would not find the problem. So I looked around and found Avast downloaded it and ran it. It found 6 viruses that AVG could not and cleaned them. Immediately, my Date and Time Properties popped up and I saw my date was wrong. I reset it and I haven't had a problem since. I haven't even had a virus in the last 6 months. With AVG I had one virus after the other pop up just about daily. And you may not believe this, but you don't even have to worry about running the full scan at all with Avast. The background protection keeps your pc safe at all times. I run it about once a week just to ensure that all is well. I will never use another program. Avast works and best of all it is FREE. Norton is not an virus remover, but instead only a virus detector. It found 2 files of adware, and one trojan dropper virus in c:\command.exe Was it able to fix anything? Nope. I went to their website and it said to just delete the file. So I did. Guess what? Now windows won't load. And, you have to pay for updates to norton after a year..... now that sucks !! [leon1987]
Mcafee and Norton provide a similar level of protection against unwanted threats and are similarly priced, but there are a couple of significant differences. If you want additional features, McAfee Internet Security Suite 9.0 provides just about everything you need, especially if parental controls are a major concern. However, installation was needlessly complex – many of these features have to be downloaded – and for performance and core components, Norton Internet Security 2007 is much more effective. Well I probably have both because I have not run my virus scan for the past two days, so I will update it and clean my computer. [dbhattji]

Beside that, Avg free edition is quiet enough for us if we have already a firewall and anti spyware... U also could upgrade your avg into pro edition.. And actually, there isn't the best anti virus, every anti virus have weakness.. Happy mylotting all.... God bless you..^^....... [joserinfans]
